As autumn reaches its peak in the Great Smoky Mountains, most of the vegetation is in full fall regalia. A notable exception are the many wild rhododendron bushes , waiting demurely in the shaded areas of the forest, their moment of glory will be next summer ,when they will enchant the forest with their brilliant white or purple flowers.
