Marking the Trail
A herd of cattle graze below the iconic Chimney Rock in the early morning. One can almost imagine the cattle being a herd of buffalo a century ago as early settlers traveled westward on the old Oregon Trail. At that time Chimney rock was somewhat taller and served as a distant beacon marking the trail as it followed the North Platte River Valley westward.
