Honk Your Horn

The Blue Ridge Parkway tunnels, 26 in all, were constucted in the 1930's and were designed to have minimal impact on the land itself. The stone faces on the portals, added later, help the structures to blend well with the landscape. It seems that one of the customs associated with Appalacian tunnels is thet you need to vigorously honk your horn as you pass through the tunnel.
