As the sunrise unfolds along the Blue Ridge Parkway a ridge of the Smoky Mountains is lit with a warm glow accentuating the gold and rust colors of the foliage while the mountains beyond remain in shadows and mist. The mountains are now at peak color and soon will fade from their brilliant warm colors to the drab tones of winter.
