The morning sun highlights the autumn colors of the hills on the south side of Harlan County Reservoir as early migrating geese fly out to feed in the cornfields to the south. In a few weeks the lake will be host to tens of thousands of migrating birds. Some will attempt to stay the winter and others wil move on to their wintering grounds after a week or so of feeding on corn and milo in the freshly harvested fields around the lake.
